Sue is probably best known as long-suffering wife Esther Lane in BBC’s New Tricks. She was delighted to be asked to play Her Majesty for the Ch4 series The Queen, and much enjoyed the battles with ‘Mrs Thatcher’. Numerous TV appearances include - When the Boat Comes In, To Serve them all my Days, Coronation St, Casualty, Holby, Dalzell and Pascoe, The Bill, Heartbeat etc, and is now happily scaring small children as the ghastly Aunt Loretta in CBeebies’ Grandpa in My Pocket. She was recently seen as a retired test cricketer in Midsomer Murders! And has just done a cameo in Mrs Wilson - a new three-parter for the BBC.
One of her favourite recent stage roles was scatty Mrs Nickelby in a very successful revival of David Edgar’s Nicholas Nickelby at Chichester.
Sue also much enjoys radio work and book recordings. Her latest audio role is Mrs Wibsey, the (rather senior!) lovely assistant to Tom Baker’s Dr Who.
