Highly popular historian Lucy Worsley concluded her new three part series of Royal History’s Biggest Fibs on BBC 2 on Friday. But if you missed it, don’t worry. All three episodes will still be available on the iPlayer for the next year.
Lucy - a regular contributor to Clive Conway Productions - kicked off the series earlier this month by exploring the ‘fibs’ of the French Revolution and believe me there are many. They included, not surprisingly perhaps, the long held but erroneous belief that Marie Antoinette sparked the whole thing off with her 'Let them eat cake!’ proclamation..
Last week found Lucy checking out the myths and rumours that abound about George IV and the Regency era. While Friday saw her revealing a swathe of little known facts about the 2017 Russian revolution and the birth of communism. Guess what? It didn’t quite happen the way in which many people believe. Grand stuff and well worth a catch -up. Meanwhile Lucy is one of the interesting names associated with Curtain Up, Clive Conway Productions exciting new series of live-streamed online shows. Others include Gyles Brandreth, Rev Richard Coles, Paul Atterbury and Dan Cruikshank. Watch out for more news.
