Curtain Up - the new series of online shows we are presenting alongside Iconic Media Solutions - offers another chance to see 7 Secrets of Happiness, Gyles Brandreth’s guide to keeping a smile on your face.
It went down really well when the ever-popular actor, broadcaster, raconteur and wit launched the Curtain Up season with his live-streamed version last month.
The show, which is available for booking again will be screened at 6.30pm on Thursday (3rd December). It finds the inimitable Gyles in full flow, delivering gems of wisdom from his best-selling book about his pursuit of the secrets of happiness.
Gyles, who is also a former MP and government whip, jokes that he started out in the House of Commons and ended up in the psychiatrists chair. A fairly well-worn route one might imagine.
We learn precisely what he discovered about who gets to be happy and why and also get the low down on some of the useful tipshe picked up along the way from, among others, the Queen, the prime minister and Mick Jagger.
The result is an amazing hour that will make you laugh and could change your life. It could even extend your life too. Research shows that happy people live seven to ten years longer than the miseries among us.
Curtain Up has been bringing some of Britain’s best loved faces into people’s homes this autumn. It is the perfect antidote to this year of dark theatres.
As well as Gyles we have already presented shows from pop star turned priest and broadcaster Rev Richard Coles, architectural historian Dan Cruickshank, antiques expert Paul Atterbury .There are others lined-up. Watch this space.
