Fundraiser for brilliant young South African violinist Jordan Brooks

Brilliant young South African musician Jordan Brooks performed a fund-raising concert online at the weekend. With tickets available until Wednesday, it is designed to help raise money for the talented 17-year-old violinist’s ongoing musical eduction at the famous Chetham’s Music School in the UK.
The concert features Jordan playing with friends, Tertia Visser Downie and Gerhard Joubert (piano); Refiloe Olifant (violin) and Graham du Plessis (cello)
CPYO concertmaster Jordan, who is tipped to be a future classical superstar, won a scholarship to Chetham’s, a highly regarded school which chooses its pupils solely on their musical ability.
Last year Jordan was  overall winner of the prestigious National Youth Music Competition which draws top young musicians from all over the country who compete over four gruelling rounds, with only six finalists selected to perform a concerto with the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra.
Jordan not only won the overall prize of a gold medal and R30 000, but also the prize for the best concerto performance in the final round for his exceptional rendition of the Sibelius violin concerto.
Jordan has performed as soloist with various orchestras and ensembles in the country and is also a keen chamber musician.
