Since 1988 the world class Oxford Flute Summer School has welcomed flautists of all ages and abilities. In their friendly and supportive atmosphere enthusiastic flautists have the opportunity to develop their technique and musicianship in the beautiful location of St Edward’s School, in the city of Oxford. The team always look forward to sharing with you a full week of challenging and enjoyable classes and concerts, working with their acclaimed flautists and pianists.

Oxford Players
Oxford Players is for enthusiasts of any age who enjoy playing with others as well as learning by watching masterclasses. You will have full access to all the established OFSS experiences including daily tutored ensemble, flute choir and concerts. Individual lessons with your flute teacher and with your accompanist provide a stimulating and supported environment in which to discuss your own playing and your musical aspirations. There are plenty of informal opportunities to play duets, trios and quartets with like-minded flute players of a similar standard.
Oxford Performers
As an Oxford Performer you will have access to all aspects of the summer school timetable, including masterclasses, concerts, flute choir, flute ensemble, daily warm-up and technique classes. Your individual flute lessons and sessions with a pianist will give you the opportunity to work on repertoire and discuss your personal musical goals. In addition to all these activities, more experienced players above Grade 8 (or equivalent) can choose the extra challenge of performing in a masterclass and in a concert.
Oxford Masterclass
Intended for post-diploma students, current or soon-to-be conservatoire students and postgraduates heading into the profession, the Masterclass option offers guidance on the way to achieve the next level in your performance. There will be classes on a practical approach to professional auditions and on building a successful career. All teaching is via intensive masterclasses, in which you will have three chances to play during the week. This option also includes a concert performance.
